I think Jakarta is a creative city already. I measure it by seeing how the creative communities grow. There are Salihara, Lomonesia, TembokBomber, you name it. I’ve done some contributions to build Jakarta as a creative city. In every of my fashion photoshoots, me and my team make a special concept of Jakarta. The last photoshoot was done in Jakarta Museum. We hope that it could inspire the youths to explore the historical sites in Jakarta. I also join Sahabat Kita, a volunteering community to educate the children. I teach arts for them, I hope by learning arts in young age they could grow as a people who can build a creative city!

There are more creativity shown by the Jakartans everyday, in diverse ways, in their very own ways. How do I contribute? Since I work in the field of creative writings, (scenario writings to be exact), I always use Jakarta as the message and setting of the story I made. I’m currently working on a novel, and it’s also about a man who tries to fulfill his dreams in Jakarta!

I think Jakarta has got what it takes to be a creative city! There are bunch of creative events, competitions, and communities. Jakarta, as a capital city, is always considered more innovative than the other cities. That triggers us, Jakartans youth, to prove how cool and innovative we really are!
Speaking of my contributions, I’m currently having a huge interest in fashion business. It started from the rise of online shops when I decided to establish one. I always try to make unique design to sell in my online shop and turns out the customers love it! :) It’s interesting to see how creativity could make money. I believe that every of our contributions to make Jakarta a creative city are precious, no matter how big or small it is.

I might say Jakarta a creative city, but it’s not accommodative enough. It’s a creative city because the people have big interest in creative fields. There are numerous of movies produced, advertisement which are aesthetically well produced and also sell, and there are so many musicians that become the Indonesian idols. But I think, the city itself hasn’t really provided the tools and facilities for the artists to grow.
I’m not really sure about my contributions since I’m still a learner in this field that needs high creativity. But I do maintain well relationship with Indonesian Prog Society, so I can spread the progressive rock message to the public. I also constantly write a music review and publish it in the cyberspace.

In my opinion, Jakarta has got what it takes to be a creative city. This, is certainly related to how the youth and society takes part nowadays. Medias are rising and so are the youth’s freedom of expression. We, the youths, could easily express our creativity or speak our minds up through social medias such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter and the others. Fashion blogs show that the youngster not only can consume but they could also share and inspire other youths.
I’m working in the field of advertising, I also do photography. The contributions that I do is by not stop creating, to produce conceptual photos and give a certain message in every social campaign that I do. I hope by doing so, I could trigger the other youngsters to create, revealing their identity as a way to create a better image of Jakarta. There’s one concept in advertising called viral marketing, (making buzz or word of mouth) I hope I could use it as a tool to promote Jakarta creatively!
